Teeth Sensitivity….You have Options….
Many of our patients visit our practice complaining of their teeth being sensitive to cold water, air, and even ice cream. There are many different options to correct this issue depending on the cause and how much gums were lost from recession. Recession is when the gums crawl down the roots of the teeth leaving the roots exposed and very sensitive. Recession can be caused from many different things, such as braces, misaligned bite, or grinding and clenching. Depending on the severity of the recession, many different options are reviewed and discussed with our patients.Â
In the following photos, this patient was evaluated by the periodontist, Dr. Warren, for her recession on all of her teeth. The recession was caused mainly from her braces moving the teeth very rapidly when she was in wires and brackets. The gum tissue became very thin and eventually starting receding. The patient was sensitive to the point of not being able to eat ice cream. After visiting with Dr. Warren, gum grafts were done and the patient is now not sensitive and can eat tons of ice cream with out a problem.
