CHEWING GUM MAY HELP WITH DECAY

A recent study by Wrigley gum company, makers of Orbit, showed that chewing gum for 20 minutes a day can increase your amount of saliva and make the acid in the mouth more neutral. It has been shown that an acidic mouth has more cavities. Chewing gum can make you have fewer cavities!

Trident Extra care has recently been recommended for cavity reduction. It contains Xylitol and Recadaldent which helps mineralize teeth. A study of children showed a 70% reduction in decay if they chewed gum.

We are switching to Mac!

We are very excited about switching to a Mac environment on our computers in the office. We have been running PC based software for twenty years. Dr’s Frazar and Hedge have been using Mac’s at home for years. The recent ability to run the old PC based software on our new Mac’s through VMware Fusion will allow us to access our old records while operating in our new Mac environment. We chose Macdent Pro, the best Mac based dental management software available. Our ability to communicate with our patients will be greatly enhanced in addition to providing our patients access to iTunes music, movies, and television shows on our clinical flat panel televisions.

A New Addition to our Dental Family, Dr. Kaldoun Katma

We are already one month into the new year, and what an exciting month it has been. With new dental technology always improving and changing, our doctors and team are steadily learning those new procedures to stay on top of the dental world. Recently, our team welcomed a new periodontist Dr. Kaldoun Katma to our dental family. With over ten years of professional experience, we are lucky to add such a knowledgable periodontist to our dental family. Dr. Katma shares in our quest for advanced knowledge and education and has continued to learn the most advanced techniques in advanced periodontics, microsurgery, and implantology. Dr. Katma is certified to provide intravenous sedation to our patients, giving them the benefit of a more comfortable, relaxing, and less stressful spa environment. With the addition of Dr. Katma, we feel we are able to give our patients the excellent care that they deserve. Our team looks forward to working closely with Dr. Katma and our patients.

With the coming of a new year, it is common practice to review our past year’s successess and lessons, and set New Year’s Resolutions!

Without a doubt, 2009 was a wonderful year of welcoming many great new patients to our dental family, taking great care of our long time existing dental family, and saying goodbye to some who have had to move due to life changes.

2009 has been a tough year for many with the economic recession, but with the ushering in of a new president; we continue to hope for improvements and changes!

To everyone we wish that all of your 2010 resolutions, dreams, and endeavors are achieved. We look forward to another year of doing our best to continue to provide excellent service to our patients and their friends, and meeting more great people!

November’s Cosmetic Super Star – Joe Gillespie

Joe came to Aesthetic Dentistry of Houston in August 2009, seeking a new dentist; what he found is his new smile.

Joe came to the office not exactly knowing what he wanted as far as his smile except that he knew he wanted a whiter smile. At Aesthetic Dentistry of Houston we look at the total patient. Joe’s smile was closed down and his arch was narrow; not only did he get a smile makeover, but a facial lift as well.

He now has a much broader smile, his facial features are elongated by lengthening his teeth and his smile is much brighter.

If you asked Joe to smile when he first came in it was hard to get him to do this. Now he help but smile all the time…with confidence.
