I want cosmetic dentistry…What are important questions I should ask?

We see a large number of new patients for consultations on their smiles and how to improve them. We are often a first and only opinion, but many times we are asked to offer a second or third opinion. We encourage our cosmetic dentistry patients to seek other opinions to make sure that they are making the right choice for themselves. Today we had a patient ask us, what questions they should be asking another dentist about their proposed treatment. Here is a list of questions that are important:

1. Have you ever done a case like mine?
2. How many cases do you do like this?
3. Can I see some before and after pictures?
4. Do you have any patient references that I can call?
5. Tell me about your laboratory.
6. Do you do a diagnostic wax up?
7. Do you use a laser to sculpt ideal gum contour?
8. Where did you get your education in cosmetic dentistry?

Featured Smile of the Week-Another Beautiful Porcelain Veneer Smile

  BEFORE

When the patient visited Dr. Frazar’s office, he really didn’t feel comfortable smiling or showing his fun and outgoing personality.  The patient was a night grinder and had worn the fronts of his teeth down and also causing fracture lines and breakage.  After visiting with Dr. Frazar and discussing his many cosmetic options, they both decided porcelain veneers would be the best option for the patient to achieve a wider, whiter, more natural looking smile.  After two appointments, the patient was overwhelmed to see his new smile.
